Conquer Low Back Pain!
Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common presentations we see in the clinic on any given day. Statistically, it is the #1 musculoskeletal presentation to GPs. In fact, around 80% of us will experience some form of low back pain during our lifetime.
But its not all bad news…
As a medical profession, we are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of non-physical factors on LBP and the importance of addressing them as part of a wholistic approach. Negative stigma, fear and avoidance behaviours, all contribute to the beliefs, expectations and subsequent outcomes of LBP.
We often find that patients are overwhelmed and confused by not just their own experience with LBP but also the stories they may have heard from friends or family about their ‘bad back’, or social media posts that low back pain is abnormal, permanent and something to be feared.
It doesn’t have to be this way!
Fortunately, in most cases, the injury isn’t permanent and will get better with the correct management. A combination of early intervention, correct diagnosis and appropriate education about the injury, are the key aspects to successfully treating low back pain.
At Elite Physio, all patients are thoroughly assessed to obtain the correct diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan that best suits them. Treatment may consist of massage, spinal mobilisation, dry needling, taping/bracing, Pilates, home exercise or gym programs, workplace ergonomic advice/assessments or any combination of the above.
Imaging including x-ray, CT or MRI are rarely needed and often don’t influence our management of your LBP. However, we will refer you for a scan if clinically indicated.
Remember, our main aim is to keep you moving by modifying, rather than eliminating, the activity you love and enjoy.
If you, or someone you know experiences LBP, come in and see one of our experienced physios for a thorough examination and personalised treatment approach. We’ll get you moving and equip you with the tools you need to conquer your low back pain.
